The Carlisle Veterans Memorial will be constructed on the west side of Carlisle Town Hall to honor and pay tribute to all Veterans, past and future, who have served in one of the five branches of military. The Memorial will provide an area that encourages thoughtful remembrance of all Carlisle-area Veterans. A paved walkway will describe the role of the railroad played in transporting troops through Carlisle on their way to serve.
The centerpiece of the Memorial will be a floating globe and fountain that will show locations where Carlisle area Veterans were involved in conflicts worldwide. The goal is to use the globe as a teaching tool for students of all ages.
The total project cost is estimated at $170,000 plus an establishment of a maintenance endowment fund.
The goal is to raise the estimated $170k through private donations and/or in-kind contributions by December 2015. All proceeds and contributions will go directly to the construction of the project.
